Hey there. I know this youtube below of Potato eating vegemite has been kicking around for almost 3 months as our most recent post. And on the internet that kind of lazy posting is blog suicide. But we've been busy with other projects, collections, AND re designing the blog. So we should have something happening in the next month. In the meantime...a bit of a mash up, some fugazi, dars werbs and jp in action..

We cant express how flattered we are that Charlotte Gainsbourg has selected our swimwear for her character to wear in the upcoming film, "The Tree". She is part of pop culture royalty and her talent and beauty is a true inspiration to us.
Susien was at her parents house recently and re-discovered something very dear to her heart... her high school "Boy Book". I guess this is what girls did before blogs. After a recent post spoke of my teenage fixation with Lisa Bonet, its only fair that we see a little young crush love from Susiens teen years. The only thing is, I didnt know it was going to be so extensive, or organised alphabetically! She claims to be an early adopter to Christian Bale, River Phoenix, Ferris Bueller and, um Ashley Paske? That last one will require google.

END OF SEASON SALE! 50% Off all stock. It's all happening over at our online shop.ENJOY!

When I was a young lad, I had an older next door neighbour who did something with music and had hundreds of records, therefore he was pretty much the coolest guy I knew. When he was moving out he gave me boxes full of old Rolling Stone magazine back issues. I had never read or seen the magazine, but it opened my mind to many things. One of those being the image above.
Being a fan of The Cosby Show, and having an 'innocent' crush on Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet). It is mild to say my mind was BLOWN when I stumbled across this 'HOT' issue in the boxes of old mags. I made sure to hide it from my mum. And to this day I still have a soft spot for her, and I never miss an issue of the magazine. Thanks older-rock-guy-whos name I cant remember.

Potato waited for her new boyf, who was running late.

He finally strolls on in.

They had words. And she left.

Poor guy. Sorry Mr Moustache, good looks can only get you so far .

Our talented friend Gen Kay has just launched her new website. Her relaxed and peaceful photos always evoke the beautiful, natural moments, that can sometimes be forgotten in the hi tech hustle bustle of our daily lives. Click here to view her site! Be sure to check out the films and blog. Highly recommended.
The muse for our Sacred Hearts College collection, Miss Filippa Berg, sent us some photos of her swedish brilliance in Lover. Simply beautiful. Click here to read her blog.

This amazing book was sent to us by Miss Shauna from PAM. Created by PAMBOOKS. And available from their store SOMEDAY. Inspiring.
Do you remember the dress above? And did you ever wonder if we would do a miniature version for UNICEF? Well we have. Inspired by the energy and individuality of our little model Eden, we have created this one off piece to help raise awareness and some much needed funds for UNICEF. As Sir Jagger once said, "You cant always get what you want." And how right he was. Due to some back-end issues, our brand spankin new online store will not go live this Friday as we had hoped. It will now be very early next week. We wanted to thank you for all of your emails and enquiries about the store, and we will be letting the Black Rose Army members know the second we send it live.
In the meantime, here's something that always makes us smile:
Olivier Zahm's blog let's you get to know the french mister frisky art/fashion curator magazine editor that he is. But it's his daughter Asia, who steals the show. Below, is possibly one of the best self portraits we have ever seen.
Self portrait by Asia Zahm.
Over the last week, we've received a couple of emails asking what the inspiration was for the Sacred Hearts College collection. And although all of this stuff, ends up in a press release, it rarely makes it to the light of day. Each season we compile everything we're currently into, put it into a big melting pot, mix it around, add a few late nights and begin creating a new collection.
For this collection the starting point was the individuality and essence of Miss Filippa Berg.

She is a swedish blogger and stylist. We stumbled across her Myspace page a couple of years ago. She is a constant muse for us, and her influence can be seen as early as the Altamont collection. Fillppa described her style as "psychedelic schoolgirl". Which helped to flick the switch in our minds. Recently Miss Berg got in touch with us, because she had heard that in some way she'd influenced the collection and wanted to know more. As you can imagine we were very flattered! Oh the circle of life.
Other bits and pieces came from our travels through Japan and Paris. We were reminded of the serene, subtle and beautiful work of photographer Kenshu Shintsubo. Heard The Beatles track "Tomorrow Never Knows" while riding in the back of a parisian taxi. Obsessed over Tokyo boutiques obsessed with Picnic At Hanging Rock, French schoolgirls who actually dress like Madeline, and the petulance of Poly Sterene from The X Ray-Specs. It's all in there somewhere.

We hosted a party with Modular Records last week. The DJ theme was “Couples Night”, so we gathered some of our favourite couples together for a DJ dinner prior to the party.
The girls all dressed up, and looked amazing.
The boys didnt.
Tim likes having his photo taken.
Stevie doesnt.
At the party we had balloons and badges.
Deejays and Dancing.

Woody Allen from WWD, Monday May 1, 1972.Photo by Fairchild Archives
This pic of Woody Allen popped up on WWD last week, and it immediately sent us running for the DVD’s. We watched Manhattan and Annie Hall back to back. Two all time Woody classics! It seems too easy to call him a genius, but he is! The casting, music, dialogue and beautiful shot set ups all point to genius. He is a walking “genre”. So influential on Lover, and poular culture in general.
( Christopher Walken & Woody Allen. I could watch this over and over. I've used the line “I’m due back on planet earth” too many times to mention.)
